“Gary Harmor of the Serological Research Institute said blood from 1.3 percent of the Caucasian population has those same factors as the sample from Craig Peyer. His testimony provided the closest tie between Peyer and the death of Miss Knott, a 20-year-old college student.”
“Harmor, who was flown in my prosecutors from the Bay area, analyzed the blood more to identify its genetic makeup.
Campbell tried to keep Harmor’s testimony from being heard. She said other experts do not agree with the methodology used by Harmor.
Harmor said, however, that the method is widely accepted. He has testified throughout the country as an expert in blood analysis.
He said he found the stain in question, which was about an inch in diameter, on the left shoulder of Miss Knott’s sweat shirt. Most of the blood on the garment was her own, according to Harmor.”
