“Wraxall said that with just a small amount of semen, at least five distinct, genetic markers can be identified and two more tied to race can be pinpointed. While the markers cannot definitely prove to whom the semen belongs, they can eliminate a suspect, he said. Through electrophoresis, ‘you can get people off who have been wrongfully accused,’ Wraxall said. The California lab also analyzes blood and body fluids for identification purposes, he said.”
