“In a slide and chart demonstration, Brian Wraxall of San Francisco told the jury that the blood could only have come from two-year-old Patrick. Wraxall said the FBI tests that disputed his theory aren’t as specialized.

‘Mr. Wraxall, when you scrape away all the irrelevant test … what the bottom line of your findings,’ Eklund questioned.

‘…the blood flakes are conssitent with originating from Patrick Mathis and not from LaDonna, John or Brian Mathis,’ Wraxall said.

But Wraxall told Assistant Attorney General Dennis Holmes that he didn’t receive the dried blood pool scraping until Feb. 4. Wind, rain, humidity and age, he said, could have deteriorated the blood scraping since the Sept. 8 murders.”
